Making Money Mindset vs Running a Business Mindset

Reading time: minute(s)

When people talk about why they started network marketing the answer is almost always “to make more money.” One of the strongest motivating factors of people in this industry is the idea that they can have an unlimited income and have the freedom of time they’ve always wanted.

But, to make network marketing work for you and make this freedom lifestyle a reality, you need to have a broader mindset than just the goal of making money.

What the “Running a Business” Mindset is all About

The thought of running a business might sound overwhelming. Many of us want to earn more money, but to lots of us, the idea of running a business is scary. However, to really be successful at network marketing you need to have a running a business mindset.

Starting and then developing a business takes time, dedication, passion, motivation, purposeful action and even some trial and error. These are all just part of the process and if you want to earn money, you have to be willing to do these things.

The Problem with the “Making Money” Mindset

There’s nothing wrong with starting network marketing because you want to earn more money. We all work hard at our careers to earn a bigger paycheck, find more opportunities and live a comfortable lifestyle.

But, too often people get into network marketing thinking that they’ll get to work less and earn more, forgetting that it takes a running a business mindset to get to this point. To make money at network marketing, you have to put the work in that it takes to get your business to a point where it starts making money for you.

The making money mindset is the drive to earn more money combined with the running a business mindset. To earn the income you want you need to be willing to put in all the time, dedication and work it takes to build your business first.

So when do I get to Work Less?

But, having to adopt the business mindset doesn’t mean that you won’t get to a point where you can work less and earn more. The beauty of network marketing is that it allows you to earn money even when you aren’t working. You will have the ability to build a stream of passive income that keeps providing your salary even when you aren’t working.

You’ll be able to travel, spend time with family and pursue hobbies. With network marketing you truly gain freedom of time and money since you’ll be able to repeatedly earn money for a single effort.

In this business, the efforts you put into building and running a team, promoting products and building your business pay off multiple times, helping you earn a residual income.

But, to get to this point you need to have the business mindset and work to build your business, not just earn money. As you create a business plan, promote your products and lead your team, you need to do so with the idea of making your business successful so that earning money comes easier.

Most network marketers find that it takes a few years to build up their business to the point where it allows them to make more money while working much less than they would at a regular nine to five job. When your business gets to the point that it virtually runs itself, your mindset will begin to pay off and you’ll get to work less each week and make a bigger income.

To find success as a network marketer you need more than just a making money mindset. You need a running a business mindset to help you build your business to the point that it allows you to make more money while enjoying unbeatable freedom.
