The Top 3 Network Marketing Myths Busted

Reading time: minute(s)

As a business coach, I’ve discovered that there are a lot of network marketing myths that are perpetuated by people who have had bad experiences or who didn’t do their research before they started in the industry.

Network marketing can be a very lucrative career if you know what you are doing. Understanding some common myths, and the truths behind them, can help you avoid making mistakes that could jeopardize your success.

Myth #1: People at the Top Make all the Money

If you are exploring the idea of network marketing, chances are that you’ve heard that people at the top make all the money. This is a common myth that always seems to be around, no matter how untrue it is.

It is true that pyramid schemes do exist and people have fallen victim to them, but in legitimate network marketing positions, everyone can make money.

In reality, you have complete control over how much money you make and how you want to run your network marketing business. In this industry, your income isn’t capped at a salary your boss has set and as your business grows, you can bring on new team members and make it possible to increase your income.

Myth 2: You have to Involve Family and Friends

Another common network marketing myth is that you have to involve your family and friends. No one wants to be that person who is always asking family and friends to make a purchase, invest in a business or spread the word about their newest product.

Successful network marketers don’t need to involve their family and friends if they don’t want to. Some people feel this is a good place to start since people they know are easier to approach with business ideas. But, to really find success you should work with people who value your business and have a real need for what you can provide.

Myth 3: You Need Business or Sales Skills to be Successful

One of the biggest reasons people hesitate to get into network marketing is they think they need business or sales skills to be successful. This common myth is one that holds a lot of people who could be phenomenal network marketers back.

The idea that you need to have incredible business acumen or be a sales guru to succeed in network marketing is false. The network marketing business model is one that has been tested and used successfully, and anyone can grasp it and use to make money.

Like any other line of work, you’ll need to learn some basics of network marketing as you get started. But, once you learn how to make the system work for you, you’ll earn an income while still having time to live your life. Network marketing makes it possible for people with very little, or even no, business experience to create a passive income that allows you to earn more and work less.

Don’t Let the Myths Hold you Back

Don’t let network marketing myths like these hold you back. This industry is one that provides a lot of perks and can be very lucrative if you do your due diligence and start your business the right way.

These are just a few of the most common myths associated with network marketing. Unfortunately, this field is associated with a lot of misinformation and false beliefs. But, when you know the truth and understand what it takes to be successful as a network marketer, you can start a career you love and that is flexible enough to let you live the lifestyle you want.
