It’s true that some people seem to have a knack for starting a home based business or earning a passive income, but anyone can develop and enhance the skills it takes to be successful in traditional business, a home business or network marketing business.
Regardless of what kind of industry you work in or what kind of network marketing company you are with, we all have one thing in common: the need to sell ourselves and our products and services.
When I first started as a retail franchise business owner at the age of 24 (with no formal business school education), I quickly had to learn what it takes to run a business. Thanks to excellent franchise training and mentorship, I managed to make it a success.
It didn’t come without doubting my abilities and feelings of fear, especially when I invested thousands of dollars into a business, but it did show me that I was very capable to do what it takes.
Needless to say, I’m extremely grateful for this learning experience as it set me up for future entrepreneurial endeavours that have created excellent residual income in business and real estate investment properties.
One thing I do know, is that we need to be able to convey thoughts and ideas and persuade others to capture our vision and respond to our calls to action. This is no easy task, but it’s one you can master.
The Ability to See the Big Picture
As a business owner and network marketing professional, you need to be able to see the big picture. You need to have a vision for what you want your business to look like in one, five and even 10 years. You need to be able to set goals and then do what it takes to achieve them. You also need to be able to help others see this big picture as you recruit team members and sell your products.
Spend some time outlining your business goals and then make a plan that will help you meet them. As a residual income coach in Ottawa, I have found that the most successful businesses are the ones that set goals and the actions to meet them on a regular basis.
As you make goals and plans to meet them, don’t underestimate the power of even small steps. To make a profit, you need to understand how all the systems in your business and strategic plans will help you accomplish big things.
An Understanding of How to Use Systems
Part of being able to see the big picture , you need to have an awareness and understanding of how to use the systems and tools available to bring success. Pay special attention to the way you spend your time and when opportunities present themselves, analyze how they will impact your business as a whole.
Too many people do not apply the systems and tools that are available to them. Many network marketing companies have gone to a lot of research to develop what you need to be successful. But if you don’t implement or follow these systems and tools, you will not succeed. This is true for franchises as well where I got my indoctrination to entrepreneurship. So learn the system and apply it along with the tools!
All business endeavours take dedication. It’s easy to expect instant results and to get restless when you don’t see very much progress. But, when you have long-term dedication, you are patient and focused on accomplishing all the small steps that will lead to success.
Having long-term dedication means having enough optimism and energy to carry through with your business plans so you can meet your goals, as well as the ability to deal with setbacks. It also means having the patience and focus required to see things through until the end; until your business brings results so you can make the income you want.
An Unshakable Belief
One of the most important traits you can develop is an unshakable belief. As a business owner, you need to show belief in what you are doing, to convert others to your ideas and help them understand and visualize the benefits you can provide. You want people to want to work with you and buy your products, and having a positive, confident attitude that attracts people and builds excitement in them makes this possible.
When you are confident, believe in yourself and your plans and you exude optimism, people will be attracted to you and your business. They’ll want to work with you, hear what you have to say and buy your products. They will believe in you!
Start by believing in yourself and facing each day with an optimistic attitude and you’ll be surprised how quickly this attitude will become your new norm.
