As a network marketing professional, I am constantly asked by individuals as to who am I looking for to join me in my endeavour. This question is frequently asked by my contacts who will not join me in the business but they are connectors and I want them to recommend people to me.
Since word of mouth marketing is the best way to meet potential partners and customers, you are always expanding your network and through referrals from existing contacts is one way of doing that. They already have a professional, respective relationship with you and are willing to refer you. They are an excellent resource for you.
We all know that network marketing is not for everyone, and we know it a sorting process. Many people who join, are not committed, do very little, do not follow the process, lose interest and quit. They are the ones that say, “Network Marketing does not work!”
So when you meet with your contacts, you have to be prepared to answer that question, “Well then, what kind of people are you looking for?”
Frankly, I am looking for women wanting more out of life. Here are 5 qualities I am looking for in women to partner with in my business:
1. They have an entrepreneurial spirit.
Yes, she has to want her own (side) business, because that is what network marketing is – a business. It does not mean she needs business experience, but she is willing to get outside her comfort zone.
2. They have vision.
Some people talk about purpose. I am looking for women who want something more than what they have today. They have a vision of where they want to go and this business model (vehicle) is going to get them there. Whether it is a better lifestyle, child’s education, retiring their spouse, travel, time freedom, making an impact, more income or doing something for herself (her own legacy), she has a purpose or vision that is going to make her jump out of bed every morning!
3. They are go-getters.
Yes, I am looking for women that are courageous and will take the bull by the horns. They have initiative; they do not need their hands held. They do not take ‘no’ for an answer. They do not wait to be fully capable but dive in and learn as they go. They educate themselves and undergo personal development. Yes, they make mistakes, but they learn from it, forgive themselves, and move forward!
4. They are passionate.
They are passionate about what they are doing and this will attract others to join them. They constantly inspire and motivate others. They are determined and want to succeed. They talk from the heart and are authentic about what they do!
5. They are team players.
Finally, they have to be team players. They empower one another and are supportive. They learn, are coachable and follow the system that is already proven. They are happy for the success of others, not jealous. They know that if they help others to succeed that everyone wins in the end.
“Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure the impact lasts in your absence.” – Sheryl Sandberg, COO Facebook
When I look back at when I started in network marketing, I realized that all of these qualities applied to me.
I had an entrepreneurial background having grown up on a family farm and then in my early 20s, ran my own franchise business.
When I started in this business model, I had a vision of a being my own boss and a lifestyle that I controlled. My success leader/coach was 3000 miles away, so I had to do things myself from the outset, I loved what I did even when things did not work out, and I followed the system, supported my team, and celebrated everyone’s success.
And it worked.
My business grew with residual income and my lifestyle changed for the better! This is the reason I can work from anywhere in the world and take time off when I choose to.
As I said previously, I am looking for people like me, that are looking to change their life.
I now cut to the chase to see if the individual I am speaking with meets my criteria. And when I do, I know that I have a winner!!
So who am I looking for? Purpose driven, powerhouse women with the qualities I mentioned above!
