Time out for what matters most.
I’m sure you’ll agree we need to take time out every so often.
Time out gives us an opportunity to rethink, refocus, remember, refresh and renew. It’s great for peace of mind, our health and our overall livelihood.
So this past week, I took time out to spend with family.
At the end of the day, what matters most is our family & friends because they will always be there for us.
My brother and sister-in-law came to spend a few days with us. They were taking time out from their hectic farming life (seeding was done and haying season was not ready yet, so this was the perfect time to get away).
And it gave us a reason to take time out too.
We used the opportunity for all of us to visit my daughter and son-in-law and their new 7 month old baby girl in up state New York, as well as checking out other great sites such as Foxwoods, Mohegun Sun in Connecticut and topped off the trip with a day in New York City.
My brother and sister-in-law already have 7 grand children but they were so excited to see our first grandchild.
One thing about grandkids, you always want more.
We also celebrated my brother’s birthday which just happens to fall on another important day – Canada Day!
Spending time with them and our kids allowed us to really connect and remember so many awesome moments over the years, including the ones we somehow forgot, until someone brought it up!
We laughed so hard and cried a bit, all at the same time.
It was so fun to reminisce and remember, something most of us do not do enough of. We don’t realize it, but we often take too much for granted and let other things get in the way.
So I encourage you to take time out for what matters most. It’s really, really good for the soul!
