Yes. You Are Worthy.

Yes, you are worthy!

Let’s start out with a little humour… if you ever watched Saturday Night Live in the early 90’s and specifically the Wayne’s World segment, you may remember Garth and Wayne on their knees, chanting “We are not worthy, we are not worthy!”

I bring this up because so often we do not feel worthy and put ourselves down.

Why do we feel that we are not worthy?  What is the underlying root cause?

Well, I think it really comes down to not believing in ourselves.  A lack of self-esteem and self-confidence. A lack of self-worth. That it is okay to be less than what we could be.

And where does that feeling come from?

In many cases, it comes from our childhood, where we are told that we are not good enough, that we can’t do that, that we will never become great, that our dreams are a waste of time.

Our schooling can even emphasize that more than anything.  If you don’t pass the grade you are seen as a loser, a failure, a dummy.

We have all experienced something in our life that stole our passion, our mojo, our hope to be better.

So how do we overcome this?

First of all, we have to let go of all the negative stuff in the past.  As stated by Guy Finley in his book, The Secret of Letting Go, “nothing in the universe can stop you from letting go and starting over.”

By not letting go, you are holding yourself back.  So let it go and start again.

I know what you’re thinking… easier said than done!

I know for me, it took a long time to “let go” of some major things in my life that were really holding me back.

The most important part of all of this process is that you keep working at it, so that eventually you can let it go.

There are lots of tools to help, lots of people to help and lots of YOU to help yourself.

Secondly, we have to continuously think that we are worthy and deserve more.

It’s not easy, because every time something does not go well or as planned, our biggest critic, that little voice inside our heads, starts to raise doubts in our abilities.

“See I knew I couldn’t do it!”

We start to blame ourselves, others, the world . . . and there goes our life right down the toilet… again!

“Self-worth comes from one thing – thinking that you are worthy” – Wayne Dyer

We have to believe that we are capable, that we will succeed.  It’s hard to stay positive and not let the negative thoughts overrun us and our thinking.

And thirdly, we have to believe in ourselves, every day.

“Working hard is important. But there is something matters even more: believing in yourself.” Harry Potter

Doing affirmations.  Telling yourself you can do it.  Teaching yourself to be better. Understanding that it may take time and not happen overnight.  And never quitting.

That’s what it takes to be worthy.

Remember you have come a long way already. Don’t minimize what you have already accomplished.  Let it boost you and prop you up!

Be proud of what you have done, not critical of it.  And don’t compare yourself to others.

The only person that matters, is the one in the mirror.

“Work on being in love with the person in the mirror who has been through so much and is still standing.” quoteambition.com

Yes, you are worthy, and never forget it!
