How to Get the Most Out of The Best

Reading time: minute(s)

Recently, I attended a 3 day convention that was focused on personal growth, in relation to my network marketing business.  We all know that personal growth is essential in this business, and this event focused on improving yourself so that your business will flourish. This was not a company convention, but a generic event that concentrated on ‘you’ as a professional entrepreneur.

So, how do you get the most out of the best influencers? And why are these type of events so important?

Well number one, you are hanging out with people who have walked the walk, who have been very successful, who are willing and freely sharing information on how to improve yourself and thus grow your business.

Many of us have been told to associate with successful entrepreneurs.  One of the best ways of doing that is by attending one of these events, to really understand what successful people do.

At this event, speakers such as Sir Richard Branson, Tony Robbins, John Addison, Mel Robbins, Eric and Marina Worre and Rita Davenport, to name a few, all shared how they got to where they are today.

So let me share ten golden nuggets that came out of this convention:

1. You have to have your own vision.

This is your vision, one that is bigger than you, that gets you jumping out of bed every day.  It is your why and it should make you cry.  It is not the network marketing company’s vision.  The network marketing company is only the vehicle to achieve your vision.  People will join you because of your vision, and that is why it is so important.

2. You have to establish your own branding.

People buy into identities.  What is your identity?  If you don’t have one, then develop one.  It should relate to your vision, and should be simple and clear.  Remember you are the walking testimonial of your business.

3. You have to have a game plan.

This means establishing your goals and objectives for the short, medium and long term,  It means setting up your daily, weekly and monthly activities, and sticking to it.  And it means giving up the low level activities and focusing only on the high level ones.  It will definitely pay off in the long run.

4. You have to use the tools.

You can’t build a house without the right tools.  The same thing goes for your business.  The tools include processes to be followed.  So respect the processes, and use the appropriate tools every day

5. You have to develop your interpersonal and business skills.

Eric Worre said over and over again you have to have a personal growth budget.  Working on yourself is continuous, it never ends. You have to spend money on yourself to be better as an entrepreneur.  This means attending conventions, reading books, listening to audio tapes and watching videos.  It means plugging in to all the company training events.  It means working on improving the 7 skills ever day – finding prospects, inviting prospects, presenting, following up, closing, helping new distributors and promoting events.

6. You have to associate with the right people.

You are a reflection of the 5 people you hang out with.  If you want to be larger in life then you have be around people that are positive, better and more successful than you.   You will learn from them and understand what it takes to succeed, because “Success breeds Success”.  This also means finding a mentor to help you achieve the unbelievable.  As Rita Davenport said “Every mentor wants their mentee to be something more than them”.

7. You have to think bigger.

We are all so capable of doing so much and yet we set goals that are way too low.  If you don’t have a large ridiculous goal then you will never succeed.  Set a goal then double it.

8. You have to change your mindset.

You have to be bolder! You have to be a leader.  You have to listen better to people.  Tear up the excuses and make decisions.  Be positive and happy, not negative.  Fight through the fear.  Rewire your life, don’t retire from it!

Remember that success will not happen overnight that it will take time and hard work. It will take massive action. “Success is a journey not a destination”.  Make up with effort what you lack in skill.   Never give up! And change your focus from you to them. Life is about ‘we’, not about ‘you’.  If you show that you care about your client and want to help them, then the probability of them joining you increases – it’s the law of attraction.

9. You have to change your energy level.

Is your energy at the highest level?  Think about it for a minute.  Are you putting everything into your business?  Can people look at you and admire you for your work ethic?  Would you follow you?  If not then you have to change your energy level.  As Tony Robbins said “Energy is everything – train people to be energy rich.  Emotion is created by motion”.  So move your feet!

10. You have to keep it simple.

Finally, every speaker talked about keeping it simple.  Why?  Because, “simplicity equals duplication”.  Apply the KISS model, because as Tony Robbins said “complexity is the enemy of execution”. Focus on the high level activities and forget about the noise.

There were many other golden nuggets that came out of this convention.  But at the end of the day, only one or two will resonate with you and result in a major ‘aha” moment that will turn your business around, dramatically.  So I highly recommend you attend one of these conventions, to improve not only yourself, but also your business.

In the meantime, start applying the 10 nuggets I have listed to commence the change in your life.
