Compound It Starting Today.

I have been a follower of Darren Hardy and if you have not read his book, The Compound Effect, then I strongly suggest you pick it up and read it!

I read it years ago and I keep going back to it whenever I need to jumpstart my life and my success.

It’s all about your choices, behavior and habits.

And it doesn’t matter when you start, just start!

I was 45 when I started my business, and with consistent effort, I replaced my executive level income in just a year and half. From there, I then used some of my profits to invest in rental properties.

Because I applied this compounding concept, I was able to become mortgage free and doubled my net worth in just under 5 years.

That is why I have no doubt in my mind, that we all need this guidance and especially this week, with Blue Monday.

What is Blue Monday?

Blue Monday is normally the third Monday in January and this year it fell on the 21st. It is considered the most depressing day of the year.

With winter storms hitting us, the temperature at a frigid level, and the wind blowing like a hurricane, it’s no wonder that it is so easy to become down.  We just had a huge storm hit the US and Canada dumping lots of snow and sending the mercury plummeting.

Throw in other factors such as the post holiday let down, as well as, losses in business and personal relationships, you can see why the third Monday in January is when most people default on their new goals.

So it’s time to refocus – time to change your thinking and your habits.

What does that mean?

Well, it means going back to your ‘Why’ and who you are.  Your ‘Why”, if it is strong enough gives you the power to get through the difficult times.

Is your ‘Why’ strong enough? If not spend some time to determine what your real ‘Why’ is?  It may be sitting in your subconscious.

People don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it.” – Simon Sinek, Author & Speaker

Next, it also means changing your attitude.

As Darren Hardy says, ‘Don’t drink dirty water”. In other words garbage in, garbage out.

Make a commitment to control what your brain is fed.  And make sure it is nourished, not poisoned.

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” – Sir Winston Churchill

Lastly, look at your relationships, mentors and associations.

Do you have the right people influencing you?  Are they nurturing you, starving you or keeping you stuck?

As Darren Hardy says, “are they holding you back with their thinking?”

You need to reassess them and make changes to your associations, if it is required. This means press ‘delete’ or ‘add’.

Hang out with those who have a common future, not a common past.” – Darren Hardy, Author & Speaker

So do you want to ‘compound’ your life?

You can apply this to saving money, working a business to create residual income, health, relationships, happiness and success.

Start with those 3 recommendations. There is more, so pick up the book ‘The Compound Effect’.

You will be glad you did.
