7 Secrets to Achieving Your Dream Lifestyle

Reading time: minute(s)

Years ago I realized that I wanted a different lifestyle for both my family and myself and knew that this lifestyle could be created with enough planning, work and enthusiasm. Having the type of life that most people only dream about is entirely possible, but you need to take specific planned steps towards this lifestyle goal to make it a reality – positive thinking simply isn’t enough. The Law of Attraction exists and I’m a big believer in it but intention alone isn’t enough.

So to help you along in your journey I’m going to share with you the 7 Secrets To Achieving Your Dream Lifestyle – I hope you enjoy the ride!

Secret #1 to Achieving Your Dream Lifestyle starts with Defining Your Core Values.

When you’re working for yourself and/or developing your own business to create a dream lifestyle it’s important that you know what makes you tick – you need to know what your core values are.

But where do you start? There are so many values that define you as a person so how can you get down to the top three core values that define you best?

The Eulogy Exercise

Write your own eulogy for your future funeral – it sounds morbid but do it. Don’t put too much forethought into this – just write it down quickly. Who would read your eulogy and what would they say about you as a person?

Now put your eulogy away for 24 hours before you read it again. Look for common themes or words that pop-up over and over again. These are hints towards your core values.

Core Word Exercise

Truth                           Peace                        Courage                    Strength

Dignity                        Fairness                    Freedom                   Honor

Faith                           Loyalty                        Love                           Security

Order                          Trust                           Honesty                     Excellence

Play                            Creativity                    Dependable             Collaborate

Respect                     Spiritual                     Committed                Flexible

Persistence              Caring                         Support                      Friendship

Respect                     Justice                       Excellence                Learning

Look at the list of words written here and circle the words that most accurately describe you. Circle as many as you want but you’re aiming for between five and eight core values that describe you best.

Now we need to filter these down a bit more because we’re really just looking for three absolute core values to represent you.

How you achieve this is look at the core values you’ve selected and ask yourself if these are absolutely non-negotiable for you? Take Justice as a core value for example – can you live your life without justice? If the answer is “Yes” then it’s not a core value. If your answer, however, is “No” then you’ve just identified one of your core values.
