5 New Year’s Goals for the Network Marketing Professional

Happy New Year!  It’s that time of year again when we’re all busy setting goals and making plans for a new year full of opportunities. What will you do with your new year? I like to use this time of year to plan ahead and set some goals that will help me reach new levels of success and grow as a network marketing professional.

1.  Know Your Why

Whether you are just starting out in the world of network marketing or have been doing it for years, knowing your why is what excites you and gets you moving towards success faster.  It’s different for everyone, but it will help you grow as a professional and as a business leader. 

Your why will help you stay on track and keep you motivated when obstacles come up and challenge your belief system. It’s what drives you.  It’s creates your journey that will result in a rewarding freedom lifestyle.  It’s about making a bigger impact and having influence.   I get super excited about my why and realize all the great things I’m doing to positively impact others.

2. Make the Lifestyle Change

One of the best parts about network marketing is getting to live the lifestyle you want. Network marketing gives you freedom from that nine to five job and lets you travel, take time off to be with family and pursue hobbies and other passions.

Find a way to make it possible to make that change that will let you live the lifestyle you want. That could mean taking the leap into doing network marketing part time over 1-3 years and could ultimately have you moving on from your office job. Or, it could be learning how to start a home based business that lets you set your own schedule and take vacation days whenever you want to. When done the right way, network marketing will allow you to work less and earn more, something I help my clients achieve.

3. Grow Your Network

A big part of network marketing is building relationships. This year, work to expand your network so you can meet new people, foster relationships and find new opportunities along the way. Some great ways to build your network include going to local events, attending conferences, asking your contacts to introduce you to theirs and meeting your current contacts’ colleagues.

But, don’t stop with just adding names to your address book. Reach out to your connections to strengthen relationships so they benefit both parties. You can do this by sending “hello” emails, commenting on your contacts’ blog posts, interacting on social media and meeting your connections for lunch.

4. Find One New Way to Market Your Business

There are literally dozens of ways to market your business. Not only would it be impossible to use all of them, but not every marketing strategy is right for you, your business and your products. Instead of spending time pushing your product from all directions, choose a few key marketing tactics and get good at them.

This year, find one new way to market your business. Find something you aren’t doing that could help you be more successful. Some common marketing tools include building a website, blogging, using social media and hosting events. I actively use my website and social media accounts as marketing tools.

5. Perfect Your Pitch

Perfecting your sales pitch will help you make more sales and build your business, but it will also help you become more confident as a network marketer. As you become more confident, you’ll notice that you will be more successful.

When I say perfect your pitch, I mean plan and in a sense, memorize, what you say to potential customers as you try to sell your product. To do this, you’ll need to know your market and product well and you’ll need to learn what it takes to build a relationship that makes people want to be your customer. Get so good at giving your pitch, at a moment’s notice, that you can turn almost any situation into an opportunity for your business.

Setting goals for the new year, and then making plans that will help you meet them, will help you gain that freedom of time and money that first attracted you to network marketing. Before you dive into the new year, take a few minutes to set some goals that will help you live the dream life of a network marketing professional.
