As I prepared for this holiday season with decorating, wrapping gifts, and addressing cards, I kept thinking about “giving”. All over the news you see parents fighting over the hot new toy, stories of those who have very little, and articles about how the economy is hurting this season’s bottom line. It makes me wonder about the true spirit of the season and what “giving” really means. It seems that today giving is all about material things.
I then thought about the gifts that I have received throughout this past year, both physical and opportunistic, and realized the latter far outweighed the other! I am continuously amazed at how congruency plays a role in our lives…and often we don’t even know it! One of the best gifts I received this past year was the introduction, by a highly respected and trusted friend of mine, to a company by the name of Evolv Health. This opportunity has opened many doors for me and I am truly excited to be a part of it! Thinking back on my due diligence with Evolv I recalled, one of the things that really stood out about the company was the “giving” attitude of the Founder and his leadership team. The term “it’s gotta come from the top” couldn’t be anymore true when it comes to Evolv Health.
Obviously “gifts” come in many different packages, but “giving” friends and colleagues exciting new opportunities, is a gift that will keep giving many years to come. If what you are offering is in alignment with their core values, they will jump on board to help themselves and others that they care about. If it wasn’t for my long time friends sharing this gift, I would not be where I am today. I appreciate their openness in sharing the Evolv opportunity with me. And now, I’m absolutely thrilled to be “re-gifting” that present as I share my experience and the Evolv opportunity with others. I know that five years from now my business and my team will be mentoring millions of people around the globe as they evolve to reach their own personal goals and dreams.
In the spirit of the season, please share in the comments, the opportunities that you are “giving” others. What are the goals you hope to achieve in the next 5 years?

I am a volunteer at Whisker City and WE LOVE REGIFTERS! Regifted new and like new items help make our auction The Sacred Cat Ball a huge success every year. Check out http://www.regift2charity.com for ideas on how to give and get!
I just shot my own holiday video yesterday, talking about rethinking the concepts of regifting, recycling, and reusing…

And when the blog post goes along with it, I’ll be talking about clothing exchanges, spending time and other ways to make all year round giving a win-win for everyone in your life!
Thanks for the great post – must look into Evolv!
One of my most poignant ‘dreams’ come true regarding giving to others is my work as Vice Chair of the International Schizophrenia Foundation (ISF) http://www.isfmentalhealth.org. We work to promote orthomolecular treatment of mental illness (and other illnesses), so that people can lead healthy, independent lives. Orthomolecular treatment (safe to use with prescription medication) is therapeutic nutrition, to give the body back what it may be missing. ISF has doctor training programs, public seminars, annual conferences and a Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine. We’re a federally chartered charitable foundation in Canada and U.S. I carry this passion of well-being into my work through nutritional consulting and speaking on nutrition and stress relief. It’s great to see people’s health and wellness improve. I guess I’m a ‘re-gifter’ too. I try to take the knowledge and gifts I’ve been fortunate to receive and pass them along to others. Isn’t that what every job is, (paid or unpaid) being in service to others?
Rosalie – I just got back from vacation and wanted to make sure to reply to your comment. Thank you for telling us about the important work you do with ISF and how ‘re-gifting’ is truly part of your work as a health professional and speaker each and every day. I love the way you look at things and congratulate you on all the great work you are doing to help others improve their health and wellness! Wishing you all the best for 2010!
Tracey – thank you for your comments – just back from vacation now, but I wanted to reply back to you. I am very imppressed with your video and your great concepts of regifting, recycling and reusing. I am involved in a few green initiatives and you may be interested in some of my ‘green’ contacts. Let’s talk in the new year – would love to share more about Evolv as well! Thanks again and happy new year!
