Are You Excited?

I was thinking the other day about how excited I am.

Why am I so excited?

As I’m out west this week, I realized it’s about entrepreneurship and how it has been a fundamental part of my life.

As a young girl growing up on a farm, I was exposed early on about being an entrepreneur and what it takes to build a business successfully.

Entrepreneurs see what others can’t, do what others won’t, and accomplish what others dream.” – Ryan Lily

I watched my parents work hard to build their dream.  I learned what it took to be a successful entrepreneur.

When my father died in his late forties, I learned the importance of family as my Mom, sister and brothers came together to keep the dream going and the business flourishing.

The importance of a ‘family’ attitude in business has never left me.

This past week, I have been out visiting my brother and his family in Alberta who have continued with the family tradition and built their own thriving farm businesses around the original homestead.

All the memories of what we had gone through as children and young adults came back to me.

I’m so proud of my brother and his family and what they have accomplished and I’m so thankful for my parents who had instilled the entrepreneurial spirit in me since childhood.

Although I did not go into the farming business, I did become an entrepreneur and a business builder.

How could I not?

I was just a young girl who decided to go for it!

From franchise owner to real estate investor, from business coach, speaker and author to social business entrepreneur, I am proud of my achievements as an entrepreneur.

This journey has been so exciting and invigorating!

Why?

Because being an entrepreneur made me dream bigger.

It made me grow as an individual and learn new skills.

It forced me to take on new challenges and risks.

It made me go outside my comfort zone.

I knew I couldn’t do it alone, that I would need help from coaches, advisors and mentors.

And finally, it made me so aware that dreams can come true.

All of these things I learned from the family farming business.  To build anything and especially a business takes all of these.

So being back home this week, made me so thankful for being an entrepreneur.

Sure there have been setbacks.

But it also made me understand that success does not come easy, that whatever we do is not worth doing unless it is through consistent work.

Their has to be struggle to get there, (and believe me, farming is a struggle!)

The only place success comes before work, is in the dictionary.” – Vidal Sassoon

So being an entrepreneur, makes me jump out of bed everyday!  I love it!  I’m excited all of the time.

I hope you are excited with whatever you do, too.

If not, maybe you should find your entrepreneurial spirit!

Finding your entrepreneurial spirit and making it strong, is more important than the idea or business that you are developing.” – Robert Kiyosaki, Author Rich Dad
