From Adversity to Inspiration

I’m back! Watch out, world.

We have ALL been there when out of the bright blue sky adversity rears its ugly head and overshadows our path.

Sometimes, you can meet it with extra determination, focus and stamina.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is step back and take time to reflect, restore your faith in yourself, your business and your life. Sometimes you just need space to heal and gain a fresh perspective.

You rally your support systems and remind yourself that getting through anything is a process.

Over the last few months, I have taken the second approach and it was the best decision for my life and business.

I’ve had a chance to slow down, face some of my worst fears, and learn to let go (why is that always the hardest lesson?). I’ve worked on forgiveness, both myself and others, all so I could move through the pain and suffering.

But you can only focus on the sh*t for so long, am I right? And my philosophy has always been to live life to its fullest – no matter the circumstances.

So, for the last 6 weeks, I’ve been completely immersing myself in leadership development and experiences that I knew would inspire me to grow and learn.

I listened intently to top influencers like Eric Worre, Tony Robbins, Brendon Burchard, Pitbull – Armand Perez, Trey White, Cathy Dohmann, Lisa Larter, Robin Blackburn McBride, and many other successful mentors.

I was hungry for more.

One of the events I attended was GoPro Mastery and witnessed first hand the camaraderie and inspiration that came from surrounding myself with thousands of my peers and top thought-leaders.

Tony Robbins taught us how to go from a low state to a peak state in a matter of minutes. It was beautiful and amazing.

Brendon Burchard reminded us to get clear about what we want. He told us even when we’re scared it’s important to be kind to ourselves and help others who are scared by being there for them.

Eric Worre challenged us to stop playing small in business and life. Think bigger, be stronger and move faster. Success loves speed. You’ve got to let go of what isn’t serving you and just GO. And if you get stuck, ask yourself what Steve Jobs would do.

Eric also challenged us to focus on the top 7 things that are precious to us. To use them as guidelines so we know what to let go of (aka everything that’s not in the top 7). Here’s my list:

  1. Health
  2. Love
  3. Family and Friends
  4. Time
  5. Purpose
  6. Faith
  7. Freedom

What are yours? Write them out!

My biggest takeaway from all of this, the challenges I’ve faced and the inspiration I’ve sought out is this:

It’s up to you to resist complacency and design a life of freedom, love and joy.
It’s up to you to provide value and serve others – then success will follow.
It’s up to you to pour yourself into your family, your friends and your team and totally love on them.

If this resonates with you, I would love to chat more about it.

My passion is to help others go from negative to positive, mediocrity to unstoppable, and complacency to courage.

Send me a message on FBLinkedIn or email me here.

I’d love to hear from you.

Pitbull gets the last word, “You think the sky’s the limit? It’s not because there’s footprints on the moon.”

Live with passion,

Deborah
