When The Going Gets Tough…

All of kaboompics_Young woman working in a cafeus in the network marketing profession have experienced the same problem – our businesses are not growing as fast as we want.

There are days when we can’t seem to book an appointment, or the appointments we do book cancel at the last minute, or our ‘for sure’ prospects turn us down, without the opportunity to provide all the information.

Furthermore we have gone through our warm list and now have to find new people to reach out to.

For some reason we think that it is going to be all smooth sailing in this business. People we talk to will want to join us and market our products. Unfortunately that is just not the case at all.

Consequently, many people quit their network marketing business when it starts to get tough and frustration sets in.

So when we are facing these hurdles what should we do?

Well, number one, don’t give up!

“Never, never, never give up.” – Sir Winston Churchill

After many years in working inside this network marketing business model and having some of these challenges, here are a few things for you to consider when the going gets tough:

1. Don’t wallow in the mud.

This is not the time to feel sorry for yourself, or a time to slow down. Every business I know goes through tough times and has to re-focus or change something that they are doing.

As the saying goes “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”.

So get more focused. Take action. Do something different.

You may have to go back and remember your ‘why’. Perhaps you have not been clear in explaining your ‘why’ for doing the business, so refresh it and make it even stronger.

2. Be patient.

Patience is a virtue. Rome was not built in a day. Don’t judge your progression against others in your business.

Remember that your business will definitely grow but it will be proportional to the effort you put into it. Even if you are doing it part time, you can still apply all out massive action and watch your business explode.

3. Follow the system.

The beauty of a network marketing business is the fact that there is a straight forward system to be followed. It may vary between companies but it is basically the same principles.

Where people fail is when they do not follow the system. So review what you are doing and make sure you are following the system and make minor adjustments to it as required.

4. Use the tools.

Whether it is videos, handouts, three-way calls, or giving out samples, you have to use all the tools in the toolbox. There is no excuse for showing up to a meeting with a prospect without all the tools with you.

Get good at using the tools. You may need to practice more.

5. Seek counsel.

In this business, everyone wants you to succeed. Your coach/mentor will certainly provide advice. Most companies have weekly training calls to help you succeed, as well.

There are a myriad of articles and blogs on the internet that can provide you with additional guidance. There are a tremendous number of books out there on how to be successful in the business.

Your company’s annual convention is an ideal place to get additional assistance and insight. So make sure you attend it, as well as other regional events. As well, there are other conventions that can help you, so seek them out and learn more.

Finally, there are many network marketing gurus who you can solicit to help you.

The bottom line is – get help if your business is not growing.

So when the going gets tough, you have to adapt in some way. I have given you a few ideas on how you can adapt or re-adjust your thinking, or your actions in order to get better results.

If it is not working, then you have to take action and do something in a different way than what you have been doing. Every business faces the same challenges.

Just be prepared to adapt and make changes.
