In honor of the recent holidays and the upcoming New Year I am going to keep this post short and sweet. Ok, fine, I admit it. It has nothing to do with the holidays. I’m just still pretending to be in Cancun, soaking up the sun and relaxing on the sand!
With that in mind, I wanted to mention that my recent trip really brought home to me the importance of R & R. Yes, work is important, but if you aren’t giving yourself a break every once in a while you’ll burn out. You have to take the time to step back and enjoy what you’ve accomplished, otherwise what was the point of doing it? (Don’t forget, this applies to both your professional and your personal life!)
So, now that Santa has returned to the North Pole on his jet ski…errr, sleigh…on to the questions of the hour.
How was 2009 for you? What did you accomplish?
What will you be doing differently in 2010?
Yes, I know – it’s a lot of questions. But they are important ones and I can’t wait to read your responses!

How was 2009 for you?
It was a great year as I did not look at the doom and gloom that was in the news I looked at everything as an opportunity and it made moving ahead much easier. Also when things did not always go right I always asked myself what can I learn from this as there is always a lesson to be learned. I was also excited about the success of those that I coached and also happy that I got to do lots of speaking to motivate others.
What did you accomplish?
I got a new car which was a surprise gift from my daughter Lisa.
I went to Italy with 39 other dynamic women because we SHOWED UP.
I received some great awards that were a surporse to me.
I build many new relationships and I was able to connect many people together,
I got several new clients, and I even got speaking engageents that are booked into 2010 . WIth our speakers Bureau I was able to get others booked not only for 2009 but 2010 as well.
What will you be doing differently in 2010?
I will take more time for me, but in all I will reach out and meet new people, connect them with others, be a cheerleader for their success.
Reach out and do more speaking and training , help othes do more speaking and finish my book with June Davidson on “The Millionaire Blueprint For Women”.
I will also work to get more women to know the POWER of SHOWING UP and the POWER in the ASKING. As SHOWING UP to me whether in person or on line is like a treasure map you never know what treasure you will find and believe me as the SHOW UP Queen I have found lots of treasures.
Also the POWER is in the ASKING so I want to encourage women to go back to the drawing board and really identiofy what it is they want and need and to start ASKING for it as it does work.
I want to do more speaking and get to speak in Australia, and want to find more speaking engagements to the people that are part of our ASLA Speakers Bureau.
Because I constantly ASKED in 2009 we received information of thousands of global speaking opportunities that we shared with our members of the ASLA Speakers Bureau.
So remember ASK is a very powerful word.
Also doing a VISION BOARD is very powerful that is why at my Janury meeting of my Murrieta FOR YOU/NAFE meeting we will be creating a vision board.
My last year vision board that I created had a villa, and a new car and the very villa I had on my board is the Villa 39 of us stayed in March in Tuscany and at the time I created my board I had no idea I was even going to Italy. Also the car in the photo I am now driving and it was a gift to me from my daughter who presented it to me as a gift and said “Mother in my lifetime you bought me 4 cars so now its my time to buy you a car and she wrote the check for the car. I was in shock but thrilled to know she is so successful that she could write the check and how thoughtful she was to do it.
Other things on my 2009 board also happened so now its time for me also to do another Vision Board for 2010, as Vision boards do work, Joyuce Swarts a friend wrote a great book on Vision Boards.
I love meeting new people and helping them soar to greatness so plan to do more of that in 2010 and I love being on Social networks as I get to meet so many great people. I currently am on 59 social networks. I also want to encourage more women to join NAFE which is the largest global network for women with over 66,000 members.

During 2009 I have lost 28 pounds, but mostly I have been so happy and absolutely spoiled.
During 2010 I will keep working at shedding more pounds and I feel quite confident that I will be as happy as I am presently. Mind you I have not become blasé, I am simply most appreciative of all the good things happening in my life, such as having a incredible husband, two wonderful sons, the most amazing two sisters and whole bunch of friends who are so precious.
You are so very right in realizing that taking time to appreciate life is important. This is somewhat what wer are doing and on February 14th we leave for our third trip to Hawaii. Nothing is too good!!!!
Have yourself and your family the very best throughout the New Year!
Lise – I am so pleased to hear of your accomplishments for 2009 and the wonderful people in your life who you love so much – you are so inspiring! So glad to hear you are also taking time for R and R – it’s a great way to reward ourselves and celebrate life’s blessings! Wishing you a fabulous new year filled with extreme joy!
Robbie – how wonderful to hear of your 2009 accomplishments – congratulations! I appreciate you sharing your 2010 goals and the power of vision boards! All the best to you and your family for 2010 and beyond!
Hi Deborah;
Took your advice and went on a European trip. Overland and Cruise in Oct. Italy,Greece,Turkey and Eygpt. On Jan.22 we leave for two weeks to Mexico to veg out. Then Feb. we go to New York for a 4-5 day mini fun trip. Theatre, Westminister Dog Show and lots of eating of course. Now to plan for March and I will have made it through another winter in Ottawa. I am pleased with the business results for 2009. Since inception we have tripled the wholesale and doubled the retail. From a staff of 5 to a staff of 13 and 3 part-time. This year the goal is to increase the retail to start making some real money. So, will be creating some new items for the menu and increasing the catering. In my Design business I presently have one complete large kitchen to design and project manage. And a few small projects. Will be taking those jobs that are fun or are for previous clients. So all in all it should be a good year. You certainly are going great guns and are an inspiration to all those who work with you. I am sorry we missed the Jan. 1 get together. Drop in and see mee. All the best for 2010 and many more years to come. Come for coffee.
Marguerite – It’s so wonderful to hear how 2009 went for you at both the restaurant and your design work – congrats on both business and personal travel! Yes – I am going ‘great guns’ and thank you so much for your feedback. I appreciate the referrals and will be meeting up with them this month. All the best in both biz and upcoming travel! Happy 2010 and see you soon for coffee!
